There is something to be said about designing a wedding from a blank canvas. Many venues have that existing charm factor, which I love, but the creativity involved with building a venue to curate a one of a kind event – much like a tented wedding – brings so much excitement. That’s exactly what we did for Natalie and Trevor’s woodland wedding at St. George’s Romanian Byzantine Church!
Natalie
and Trevor love travel, hiking and exploring the world (my kind of couple!) so
a woodland wedding was the perfect direction to take. Together Natalie and I fashioned a wedding
style that would mirror the things they treasure most in life, resulting in one
of the most romantic and touching wedding days I have ever experienced.
We
built a really natural but exciting vibe in the Romanian Hall through rentals,
lighting and gorgeous floral. Rock the
House produced a lighting scheme that added warmth, texture and intrigue to the
space while the farm tables, linens, chairs and greenery added charm. The head table was adorned with unique table
top details to add a lush component. The greenery placed at each setting was
actually straight from the Maier’s garden – love it!
The
Maiers also collected beautiful birch and wood pieces to bring the look
together – paired with the wood signage from Wedwoods, the birch band backdrop and
the amazing cake from Luna, each detail brought you deeper into what felt like
an enchanted forest and added so much character to the space.
Rebecca
from Blue Envelope designed a stationery suite that fit perfectly within the
overall woodland theme. From the wood
grain on the invitations, to the favor tags attached to the wild flower seeds,
each element of the stationery was so lovely and cohesive.
After
cocktail hour in the Romanian Village, guests dined on traditional Romanian
faire and danced the night away to the upbeat sounds of Tony Quarles and the
Discovery band – the dance floor was packed all night! As always, Jessica
Vidmar captured each detail from the most beautiful perspective!
