There are few times in my career where I come across a bride who knows every last detail ahead of the planning and Karen is one of them! Looking to achieve a 'Great Gatsby' feel in the amazing spaces of the Tudor Arms was easy for Karen who already knew her color scheme and stationery concepts before we even met. My only job was to bring her to the awesome vendors who would see her vision come to life.
I remember posting “linen envy” on Facebook the day of Karen and Robert's wedding because we were using the most amazing custom linens in sequin and other heavy fabrics to create the base for our gorgeous centerpieces and details. Incorporating a bar cart for her wedding ceremony programs and a honeymoon table that allowed guests to see up close their travel plans were just a couple of the many details this wedding possessed. It was truly a feast for the eyes. I am so happy that they chose me to help them make their dreams a reality!
Of course, you can’t pull off such a wedding without Karen’s super supportive and lovely husband, Rob, who nodded and smiled throughout the planning process.

With the bride and groom being lovers of summer and patriotic to their core, they wanted to create a wedding with the nostalgic feel of the 4th of July. They wanted an equally fun and stylish atmosphere with lush florals and the latest in wedding rental trends and we definitely created (in the words of the venue folks) "the most beautiful wedding we've ever had here!".
Sarah's lush floral choices for summer floral bouquets to go along with the navy bridesmaid dresses and her own Maggie Sottero gown were stunning and reminiscent of a summer garden with the trailing greens! Our church was decorated with striped ribbons and floral pew pieces but the fun was only beginning.
As guests arrived the Lodge for cocktail hour on a perfect summer day, they were escorted out to the lakefront patio for cocktail hour. What better way to spend your 4th of July holiday than at the lake, right?
And why have 1 wedding cake when you can have 3?! Complementing patterns on 3 cakes on top of a vintage wooden table created a pretty as a peach cake display as well as Sarah and John's favorite saying used as the topper of "best day ever"!
One of my favorite aspects of this wedding was the custom stationery. Not only did our wonderful designer create a custom monogram with the bride and groom initials and stars that was used on the dance floor and menus but also throughout all of the stationery. Everything had a crisp and classic feel to it with navy blue ink and ivory paper. The seating board displayed at cocktail hour was a beautiful touch.
Our tables consisted of 4 farm tables pushed together to create a stunning king's table for the bridal party. We accented this with a ceiling height backdrop drapery, vintage doors and floral accent. Our stage was also accented with drapery but with twinkle lights between sheets of fabric reminiscent of fireworks.
The guest tables were alternated with navy stripe linens and coral linens. Our gold and silver Iriana charger plates with our star spangled menus made charming place settings!
For the guests favor and entertainment, we created a dessert table spilling with sweets including flag sugar cookies, patriotic tootsie rolls, red, white and blue rock candy, patriotic drizzled popcorn and more! Postitioned close to the dance floor were gold baskets filled with flag printed sunglasses to keep the party going, as well as a flag backdropped photobooth.
Last but not least, our wooden bars brought in also from Borrow Rentals were an inviting atmosphere for guests to walk up and order their favorite drink mixtures, beer, wine or specialty cocktails!
It was an absolutely perfect summer wedding day for Sarah and John, the #starspangledsmiths!
