Now on to part 2 of our October wedding post!
Our 300+ person reception included 2 caterers - Hyatt at the Arcade in house and Indian, an 80's band, a DJ, an over the top lighting job and 2 levels of guest tables! We had 50 total tables and each one had "I Love you" in a different language on the table number. We also put out an anniversary card at each table for guests to sign, that corresponded to the year they would open it. K&P wanted a very contemporary feel, using mostly green (bride's fave color!) with accents of purple. We even had Grande Designs put together a special centerpiece that they originally saw while on a trip to Las Vegas at THEhotel!
Kara's brother, a firefighter who also has experience as a pastry chef, made their wedding cake as a gift. Isn't that sweet?
One of the coolest wedding stories in my experience comes from this wedding. Percy got in touch with me early in 2010 and said he wanted to come up with an over the top surprise for Kara on their wedding day. Her favorite movie is "Love Actually" and he actually proposed to her by renting out a theatre, paying them to show a private feature of the movie and then asking her to marry him. So of course this surprise had to coordinate with that movie! We used the song "Jump" by Pointer Sisters for the bridal party announcements down the grand staircase. Right when the new Mr. and Mrs. were announced and were walking down, the music cut out and there was silence. Our planned surprise, an acapella group we hired (Partners in Rhyme) came out from their "hiding place" and began singing "All you Need is Love" to K&P. (If you've ever seen the movie, this is what is played throughout the church during the recessional at the wedding in the beginning of the movie). Kara was completely surprised and it was truly one of the best wedding moments I'll always cherish!
I absolutely LOVED this wedding and loved working with this couple even more. I know we'll remain friends, as they are two of the sweetest people I've ever met. Congrats you two!!! I have no doubt there will be plenty of happiness, love and surprises for years to come.
The wonderful photos were again courtesy of Rob and Jackie at RAD Productions!
And then of course, some of my own pictures from the day!
